Lost Board off Acadia - Sun 27 - White Xenon LaLuz 132

Kitesurfing shop talk

by joeschmoe » Tue Mar 29, 2016 9:45 am

Hi folks,

Lost my board at 4pm on Sunday approx 2 mile west of Acadia. Tide was flooding with high tide at 10pm.

2012 xenon laluz 132. White, with some red & blue similar to the one pictured. White footstraps & black North handle. Unfortunately I didn't have my details on it.

If anyone happens to come across it, please contact me on 778 ninetwonine 2339.

Any suggestions on where it may have washed up would be welcome.

Cheers!

2 mile west of Acadia! Holy cow that must have been a lot of body dragging back to shore.

Best of luck with recovering your board.

2 miles West of Acadia! I'd check Wreck and Iona for it.

If it's 2 miles East of Acadia, that's the Jericho Pier.

tough call, tide flooding but wind was NW. At Wb there were waves coming more North than usual.

If it were ebb tide I would say Iona, but there was a strong flood tide.

Because I lost a kid (Heath) SUPing that way (yes, while I was windsurfing on 16 knots winds, he was SUPing at Jericho, and he drifted to Kits, life jacket on) ... not proud of it, mom to this day does not know, let's keep it that way.

I would say your board is between Kits beach and Third beach at Stanley park. Given the people there ... no comment.

Yeah, I had launched from a sailboat in the middle of the Strait. All was going well until I came off the board from a fairly innocuous fall. It disappeared immediately so I sense that there were some strong tides at play, and made more difficult with the big swell.

Getting back on the boat was a little hairier than I had anticipated. Esp in 20+ knots. Lots of lessons learned and may not be trying that again in a hurry, especially in March.

Got a pretty sweet video out of it though...
