Alton, you up for a trip to Green Lake tomorrow. Some fresh snow dump in the last 2 days, and the lake is frozen. But the wind -- I'm guessing it may come since it's clear all day tomorrow -- my best guess -- 5 degree temp diff between Lillooet and Vancouver tomorrow.

Hmmm ... Windguru looks light.

Last new years day (January 1, 2013), that was the condition. So I'm betting it will be. I was thinking of snowboarding tomorrow in Whistler, but since I'm too tired today from kiting and then swimming tonite, I will end up sleeping too much and wake up late (8am) and then leave maybe 9.30 and be there around 11 am just in time for the thermal to kick in.

Went to Green lake today to see if it is good to go? Solid and smooth ice, N outflow 16 knots to start, later 10 knots, sunny! :D
There are cracks which are re-frozen 4 inch there, other places 6-8 inches thick ice. Had to use ice screw just to be able to launch the kite.
Hockey players were already on the ice, it is safe to go.
First the ice was hard but later softened up, but did not get watery wet, just softer, easier to edge.
Crazy fast with the 6m and later the 12m kite. :)

Today was much warmer with gusty wind On and Off. The ice got soft by 12:30, and felt like hard packed snow, was easy to edge and cut a very narrow single track :) BUT got wet as soon I sat down :( .
If you go, go early!
