Weather Talk For BC no matter what you ride

Sherkston (Lake Erie)

Windsurfing shop talk

Similar to the Sandbanks thread, this thread is dedicated to sharing some of the better days from Sherkston on Lake Erie (and brace yourself, they get treated to frontside down-the-line riding there).

Second installment - a little colder than the last (there's snow on the ground).

Hey Dave,

I just did a quick search online and it looks like you can buy a newish double wide in that trailer park the guys launched from for under $100K !!! That would make for a cheap windsurfing vacation home :D

How often do they get conditions like that in the video? Are the wind and wave conditions pretty consistent? The $80K trailers on 1/2 acre parcels 15 minutes from Gold Beach are still #1 on the wind vacation home radar right now.

Cheers,

Chris

There are already a few windsurfers who have done that - DB knows most better than I. Ball park - they might get 20 days a year with similar conditions early spring/late fall (most cold temps). Personally, I would favour Gold Beach over Sherkston myself.

Here is a second video from December 17, 2014.

"@ Da Reef this past Wednesday in balmy 1C air temps, wind chill -7C, and H2o at 5C....WSW wind made for a super sweet set up on the outer reef with large and in charge nuggets rolling through. In all, 7 brave souls took advantage of the late season session and caught some very sweet rides."

"First windsurfing session of the year on the books, Sunday Jan 4th at Sherkston Shores with three sailors. A crazy gusty day with WSW winds ranging between 20 & 50 kts. Air temp at 5 degrees and H20 pretty close to freezing based on the amount of ice at shore. A few good rides, and a lot of ass whoopings! Fun as always though!" thewindmill

 That shore ice sends shivers down my spin! :?

Thanks for posting - some nice clean waves in that one for sure! I put a copy here with others so they are all in one thread.
