Friday is looking epic!

Hoping it warms up quickly Friday morning

I'm working part day so have one choice - ski or windsurf. Wind is my nature first choice but it looks like it will be fierce and COLD. So if I did this, probably later morning with the hope of warmer temps. I'm near giving up on the cold cold wind days but my drysuit may be changing this.

For Ski (Cypress) does anyone know if the wind potentially create a problem? (I'm new to this area)

Wind at Cypress can be uncomfortable on the face. A proper face mask solves the problem. Most face masks will promote fogging of the goggles, so they should be tossed into the landfill. You need to buy a mask that is designed properly.

Depending on the severity of the wind, some chairs may be on standby.

Yes, that's brutal. Metar/TAF also largely easterly. Actually makes more general sense with the very low temperatures. All in all looks more punishing than fun.

Mike, I’ve never found a face mask that I can stand wearing for long, or breathing through. A thin balaclava under your helmet, pulled up over your chin when skiing and over your mouth when riding the chair, is my preference. Even a neck tube pulled up over your mouth is pretty effective in anything above -15c. Colder than that, I find I need frostbite protection on the chair so the balaclava works best. The thin merino wool ones are comfortable and easy to keep handy in your jacket pocket on marginal days.

I am planning to sail later this morning if it stays SE or at least ESE. Have to take my son driving this morning in the snow first to practice for his driving test on Monday. ETA 11 - 11:30 am.
