Plans changed this morning and could only squeeze in a late afternoon session. Needed to be close to YVR so sailed at Garry Point Park from 2:30 to 4:30.
Sailed my 3.0 and 65L old school Gorge custom.

That was Faceplant (our hero of the day) who towed him half way from the freighters to the shore of Spanish Banks.

Unless Ethan weighs over 170 lbs, he would have been fighting the kite instead of riding - or more likely experiencing a kite-mare launching. Even experienced kiters like Dave Bush were getting worked on their 5m kites.

Here's a reminder of yesterday's severity ...

Yep, a bit nuts at Acadia as I expected. At first I thought I was done after 2 minutes. After warming up and adjusting to wind that I very rarely see it was better, then better with more sail downhaul. Better is defined as not constantly feeling like I'm about to get slammed. I noticed the same as C36 in that it seemed to look better from the shore than the experience on the water.

Saw that too. Probably looking at the water. Would have thought all that tech would have kept him on road.

Overall a fun day yesterday. Arrived early for session 1 and it was nerve wracking while waiting for the tide to rise and hear the snapping and crashing of 6-8 trees and falling debris. I underestimated Acadia and first launched with my 3.7/82L and got worked. Tried with max downhaul but it was still constantly feeling like I was going to get slammed. Switched down to the 3.1/67L setup which was better but the wind felt like it was pulsing and there was gaps in the power where I had to bear off or fall off the plane. I was really working to stay planing and combined with the strong flooding tide and the nice rides to be had it was a big fight to beat upwind. Ended up being a kook with the kooks down at kook beach. Thanks for C36 for gear transport assistance back to Acadia!

Sunset session 2 at Jericho was unnecessary after all the morning sailing but it ended up being better than the first. The chaos from earlier in the day seemed to have eased a bit with us reaching high tide but really needed to be alert for logs and other debris. 3.7/83L proved to be the winning combo and some big nicely spaced head high swell to be found by the freighters. Sailed into the beautiful sunset enjoyed by several others. I think it's the windiest I've ever seen it at Acadia/Jericho. Good to see everyone out and also make it back safely. As always, thanks for the pics Dave!

It delivered a big day out at SB yesterday. Tied the previous windiest day I've seen there.

It was a bit of a rodeo on the water with the very NW swell coming in and gusty conditions. Proved to be very physically demanding kiting keeping the 4.5m kite under control as it turns about 4x faster than my next smallest kite.

In the end it was a great 2.5 hr on the water though, beautiful day, big messy waves, bit lofty boosts.

It was great to see so many windsurfers out and read all the post session reports. :D It was a challenging day for sure! A big thanks to Johnny for lending me his 79L DaCurve, that board made it fun, I wouldn't have survived 2 minutes out there with my big board! The waves started to shape up near the end and the last few reaches I got some really nice rides so gave in to trying to stay up wind and rode down to Dog Beach with Johnny Brad and Carl. Thanks to Dave for helping with the gear haul back up the road and the pics, nice to se some GoPro action as well Dave!
Glad to hear you scored another cool down session Johnny! Also glad to hear Kato is OK and he got his gear back. A few shots from on the water.

Hope this guy is OK?
