Trident Sports - Distributor of Starboard Windsurf/Severne Sails (North America) is hiring a full-time Windsurf Category Manager to work with us at our HQ in North Vancouver, BC.

Trident Sports began with two guys who are passionate about the adventure sports industry and committed to having fun. What started as a small distribution center for windsurf gear quickly grew to serve the North American market with the best water sports (Windsurf, Kite,SUP, Surf) and cycling (Mountain, E-Bike, Apparel) products. JOB BRIEF

We are looking for a Windsurf Category Manager to manage our group of Windsurfing brands for our water sports division. You will be the one responsible for the pricing and overall promotion of a product category to maximize consumer appeal. Relationships with customers and vendors as well as sales and product range management will also be part of your duties.

An excellent category manager must have extensive experience in understanding consumer needs and the retail environment. They must have a commercial mindset and full comprehension of marketing and sales principles. Exceptional communication skills are also key for category managers.

The goal is to increase sales and profitability of business to drive sustainable growth.

This position is primarily in-house with partial travel throughout North America.

KEY OBJECTIVES

Service all Windsurfing Accounts
Analyze data or insights to determine industry and consumer trends
Devise long-term development strategies for product categories
Develop exit strategies for unsuccessful products
Foster trust relationships with vendors to achieve better pricing and quality of services
Place appropriate orders to ensure product availability that meets consumer demands
Determine the positioning of a product category to maximize visibility
Liaise with marketing teams to determine competitive pricing and promotional activities of product category
Collaborate with buyers and merchandisers to expand product categories
Make forecasts for product demand to ensure the sustainability of inventory
Assume responsibility of budget development and revenue for category

REQUIREMENTS

Proven experience as category manager or similar role
Proven sales experience
Solid knowledge of marketing and sales principles
Understanding of data analysis and forecasting methods
Proficient in MS Office
An analytical mind with a strategic ability
Excellent communication and people skills
Highly motivated and target driven with a proven track record in sales and long-term relationship building
Excellent selling, communication and negotiation skills
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office with specific competence in Excel
Punctual, reliable and willing to put the time in to get the job done
The ability to maintain calm under pressure
Troubleshooting and multi-tasking skills
Prioritizing, time management and organizational skills
Familiarity with CRM practices an asset
Experience in Wholesale Distribution is an asset but not a requirement
Valid Drivers Licence
Valid Passport and ability to travel to the USA
Job Type: Full-time (40 hrs/week)

M-F, 8:30-5:00 *Some travel, occasional weekends and evenings are required

EDUCATION

BSc/BA in business administration, marketing or related field (Preferred)
