Just came back from Ambleside with no hope and turns out wind is just in my backyard -- the Squamish spit. Heading there to check it out in 20 mins.

I'm curious to know how the actual conditions were, big discrepancy between the iKite and port sensors.

I trust the iKite more than the port, but that's a big difference.

AJ- sorry to read that you were skunked too. Wind there is pretty fickle. I find the Ambelside webcam helpful. If you scroll down it also shows wind readings from the balcony of the Hollyburn Sailing Club (just east of Ambelside) which can save you gas.

Also, for Erwin Park or Stearman Beach on easterly or SE winds, see EC’s Point Atkinson wind reports. It reads about 7-10 knots high for the beach but is probably close for out in the middle of English Bay. Ignore it if the wind has any west in it, since those beaches are in a monster wind shadow from Point Atkinson that make them hopeless to sail from.

OSR Spit. 15 to 18 SW. Definitely doable on my 8m but I don't trust those dark low clouds with rain. Seems pretty sustained though just don't have exit plan if wind betrays me

I was lucky to have 20min session at Tsawwassen terminal, right when wind pick up to 35kn. I barely hold the kite on a beach. 20min later had to swim back to beach.
Around 12 we checked LHP in pr. me and Ivan had great session there for 1:30 h 16-20kn. 8m on surf board, Ivan on 10m and tt.

Great wind, sunny easy and nice lunch comparing to Tsawwassen.
