Enjoy your trip DB!

Gusty-light. 7 am pajama-to-wetsuit solo session. Gusty, but lighter (good). Cool with clouds. Rolling swell made for jumps in both directions (steeper to starboard) and some gliding swell rides. Definitely felt gentler and definitely more fun! Nice note to end the trip on!

I forgot to mention I just about got taken out by a brand new bar-b-que tilting off the back of the pick-up truck in front of me leaving Florence. I guess the driver figured it looked pretty stable at the store so no need to tie it down for the drive home.

Also chatted with a woman at Doug’s Beach who originally was from New Westminster now living in the Gorge. Seems she had her Evo blow away from her the day before at the Hatchery and never saw it again. She seemed pretty upset about the loss.

So watch out for loose loads and secure your boards!

Not only did Vero get to sail the cape for her first time wavesailing ground swell, but Dana Miller captured the moment! The smile in the third shot pretty much says it all! 8-)

Arrived in Hood River late last night. Sailed Rufus today from noon until about 4:30pm. 4.7 for the first 2 hours then rigged down to 4.2 but wished I had rigged the 3.7 as there were gusts over 40 knots. Nice big swell rolling through (some overhead). Lots of Kiters and Windsurfers out and it was hot, easily 30 degrees and the water was warm too. Lots of current but no problems keeping even with the launch. 1 backloop attempt but it was better for riding. Tomorrow looks good for the central corridor. Going to be sore tomorrow!

I wanted to thank some of the other ‘shooters’ including Shirley Catone, Jesse Cohen, Trudy Lary, Dana Miller, Johnny and Heather Tam – it was a pretty impressive bunch sharing their talents this year!

I also wanted to thank those who passed tips my way - I find it really helpful to sail there with such a group of skilled sailors and really appreciate the tips I got from others (including those from Yuma and Windoctor) - they really helped! 8)

And just in case some were wondering if I ever took to the water myself, here are some samples from this talented photographers presented in the order they happened.

Yuma assignment #1 - tighter bottom turn and top turn transition – hands and back foot pressure. Thanks Yuma! That helped.

Yuma assignment #2 – Hit the foam pile (even if it's closing out, hit it anyway). Thanks Yuma! That helped.

Chris Curran tip #2: attack the lip with speed. Thanks Chris! That helped.

As more pictures surface of other sailors, I will post links to them as well.
