That's an insanely good price, I looked at picking one up but decided that the fact it doesn't have a collared Tuttle attachment would cause grief for an unreinforced Tuttle box by transferring all the load to the deck of the board.

I'd be more concerned with the tuttle box splitting at the front. I was tempted to get an NP then have an aluminum welder add a tab.
They are supposed to be pretty fast but need a bit of power to get going. My buddy has one, he's pretty lightweight though.

yeah splitting at the front seems like a real possibility. If they built these with a collar/tab they'd be selling like crazy. That said I recall seeing someone ripping on one with a regular old deep Tuttle Starboard and it seemed fine, but for who knows how long

I'd have gotten one instead of the slingshot if it had the tab. Second thought though it's not really a light wind/heavy rider foil. The RS (blue) has a bigger wing and seems better for that. In theory they retail at the same price.

Grant, how's your Slingshot for getting you up and going in light wind?

It seems to lift pretty early and can definitely fly quite slow. It does hit a fairly hard "wall" at speed, basically pitch stability goes put the window if you push it too hard.
That said I don't have any experience with really stable sails which I think can't help a lot. Likewise I think a longer fuselage would show some improvement.
I've tried shimming the stabilizer with much luck but I think I'll retry that with the new board.

Aeronautical tangent:
The slingshot has what is called an "undercambered" airfoil section. Really good for high lift but not very good for pitch stability. So it could be a problem inherent in the wing.

Thanks Grant. Is it the 36" fuselage that you are finding unstable?

It's the switch fuselage so 78cm which is shorter than the Starboard Race, but the wing also mounts ahead of it so hard to compare.

I may make a longer/lighter one. But for now it's getting a shim. I carry a lot of weight on the back foot right now.
