Let's talk about foiling

Windsurfing shop talk

I'm out of commission for another 6 weeks waiting for a broken hand to heal and and am beyond gutted as my stoke for foiling is on. I just tried foiling and used the air rush V2 at the spit with descent luck but am thinking about picking up the F1 kite foil with the H4 wing

and put it on a dwarf craft

Seems like a decent price? Thoughts? Thanks

I haven't done any kite foiling, but just started using the slingshot infinity 76 wing for windsurfing and it's awesome. Super efficient and a pretty good combination of stability and maneuverability. Can really feel the Squamish chop though not too bad once you get used to it. Construction seems really solid except I broke two bolts connecting the mast to the fuselage trying to surf it in ocean waves.
That price seems pretty good, but they have had some sales on board/foil combos for surfing and windsurfing, maybe try talking to a dealer if your interested in a package deal!

Sailworks crew foiling Bump & Jump.

Observation: Interesting hull shape for the Roberts board @ 2:17. Pronounced V, no cutout. Set the playback speed at .25 to see it.

I spoke with Rob about this and I don't want to misquote him, but I believe that the idea with that design is to give the nose some shape so that it acts a bit like wing and produces some lift while in the air (lift pointing down I think?).

That's what I'm talking about! The foil is so fun for slalom turns, doesn't loose any speed and such a wide range of directions you can go. It feels even more agile turning than my 20L surfboard, but riding a 120L+ board with 5m sail! Somehow handles gusts without any issues even just cruising out of the footstraps through Squamish chop.

I missed the morning session and disappointed with the afternoon wind. Hopefully tomorrow!

Foiling small wave video.

Observations:
100% of the time backfoot, is out of the straps, even when he heads upwind.
Sail flip is done with the mast vertical regardless of board angle.

What is the heaviest one can be to foil before the gear breaks? I know that NP makes a foil for surfing that should handle up to 250lbs, but nothing in the windsurf arena. I am thinking of taking a Bic Techno 148 and using it for foiling. The weight is more of an issue. Anyone with first hand experience? Call out to 105kg and above.

I was foiling with a Slingshot Fwind1 at 215# without a worry although it's a very flexible foil.

The NP Glyde is stiffer for sure and should work fine in the large size. What big guys need to worry about is the foil box. That Techno is not likely to be reinforced.
