Let's talk about foiling

Just got a foil setup as follows:
- Slingshot Infinity 84cm Front Wing (the biggest front wing)
- Slingshot Infinity 48cm Rear Stabilizer (the biggest rear wing)
-Slingahot 71 cm fuselage
-Slingshot 90cm mast
-Slingshot Dialer 145L Board
-Slingshot Ride Engine Hoof Hooks

Was able to Foil across the river multiple times on the first day ever foiling. If you are 200+ lbs and considering getting a foil have a look at these components. I was on a 4.7 all day in variable 18 -25k conditions. Can't wait to see how low a windspeed I can get this thing going in...

I pieced mine together but there is a sick deal at Winddance on the foil setup(with a smaller rear stabilizer)

That is a great setup you are going to have tons of fun with it, especially in swell as well as lightwind local conditions. I'm 185lbs and love the 84cm wing, I've had it up to 30mph gusts and still haven't found it to be too much wing.

What sails are you using?Seems like I might me in the market for a foil specific sail like the Sailworks Flyer in the near future

Rather than foil specific, try to find a 2 cam late 90s sail in the size you want. Most foil really well.
I've even added a single cam to any older sail with good result.

Neil pryde does make the one piece tuttle masts and they are on sale at MAC in everyone’s favourite colour.

I am happy with my Medium glide surf for kiting, but I am too new to be a good judge on anything but weight, price and aparant quality.

If your interested, check with silent sports, they got me a long standard mast that they did not have listed on their website for a fantastic price. If they have a pinkie around, I bet they beat MAC and total cost and weight should come in well below SS.

Yes I have the small rear wing and long fuselage. Grant's suggestion about vintage cam sails is a good one, i like the older cammed and RAF sails for big sails, with newer wave sails for high winds. Locally i am usually out on a 5.0 to 7.3 as the wind allows.

I have seen Francis rigged a Retro with the two battens removed. The 2nd from the bottom and I'm not sure whether its the first or second batten from the top.

Also:
With the Slingshot 84, the large rear wing is tip down. I assume you could use the 84 with the original smaller rear wing but would it be tip up or down?

It would be tips up. Quite a few Seattle guys using that combo. Sounds as though it doesn't offer quite as much range as the 76cm but down there even a knot on the bottom can be huge.

I've got a 7.2nx that I've rigged without the top cam (of 3) before but I actually prefer it with 3 for foiling. Didn't try removing battens.

I think my favorite "foil" sail is still a very old Naish Koa with a cam added. I haven't tried removing a batter from that but perhaps I should?
