Windsurfing shop talk

Another nice day at SC. Started off light and I cracked the nose of my board after a nose dive straight into the sand but other than that little set back it was awesome. I had it repaired and was back on the water within an hour just in time as the wind picked back up again. Sailed until just before sunset.

Yes Guy!!

Nice Score, Michael!
I was looking at the forecast and hoping someone would get on it! Sorry to hear about the nose crack but well worth the price of admission I'm sure.... ;)

Nice clean (more typical of SC) looking set M! 8-) Glad the 'nose job' wasn't too painful. Hope Jessie (and others) were there for some company and to share in the stoke! :D ;)

Nice clean wave -- I'm jealous. Other than camping, I suppose there's no cheap place to snug in there. At the OR Coast I can still find $60 USD a night. Tofino was my priority this week but just find it expensive even with cheap CAD $.

Hey Dave, Jesse was there as well as a few others, sorry you missed it, not the same without you bro.

Hey AJ, I'm camping in my van. Ya it's not that cheap out here and the wind usually only shows up for a few days here and there. Hope you're having fun on the coast!

You'll have to give me pointers on car camping in Tofino, I struggled last time (private road this, private road that...)!

Epic score, wish I was joining you for my R&D session, but hey, SOC isn't that far off now!!

Enjoy.

I'll give a few pointers aboutTofino, if you are on a budget and want to spend $0 dollars.

Camping at cox bay in the 90's was huge, there used to be a massive campground at Cox bay (we named it "the nazi camp" for its barb wire, etc) it was $20 bucks. Now any campground around Tofino is about $55+, nonsense.

There is a marina at Ucluelet with hot showers, laundry, etc, and public access. You park there (see map), get a hot shower and then find a spot to park your van for the night == $0 (next to the eagle pub). Location:

There are lots of places around Ucluelet you may sneak your tent :) if you can't sleep in your van.

Thanks for the info Gabriel. I think the glory days of inexpensive, carefree, fun, holidays to the island are gone. The new age 'locals' want a piece of the visitors pie. And so it goes.

Awesome Michael that you got a great trip again. Keep the reports and pics coming. Looks like another great day today!

Dave knows the place a lot better than me but that spot Gabriel mentioned sounds great, I'll have to check it out next time.
