Anyone launching from Iona or Jericho this afternoon?

Traffic will be a nightmare to Boundary bay from DT in rush hour...

Fever and cold from this morning gone after 5 hour session with 6m kite and 4 and 3.4m sail on 83 L board.

Now that's what I call natural therapy.

Uncivilized is a good way to put it... started out decent enough and rapidly started building around 130. By 3pm it was 35G40 on the beach, borderline insanity, but there were 5-6ft waves on tap at the marina at PR before the wind became unbearable for prone surfing. Pretty sizable crew over at LHP taking laps on the windslop machine, but the heinous winds made it highly unappetizing. Ferries cancelled, probably lots of unhappy travellers, but traffic was pretty light on way home, no downed trees, powerlines etc..

As models suggested, wind ramped up from ESE 20 at noon to SSE 30 at 1:30pm. This was the 1.5 hour window Mike, Clay, Rob W and I used to enjoy civilized 7m conditions. Apparently, we came off the water just in time. Waves were only knee high inside but chest high outside towards the mile marker. Sadly, the wind was rather gusty.

Full house of kiters and windsurfers.

"Go small or stay home".
Wow that was windy. Is it really April?
Tried to catch some moderate wind while it ramped up, with 4.5/88l, but that only lasted 20 mins before it was WAY too much. Had to go down to 3.5/70 l to maintain any semblance of control. It just kept getting stronger so it became an exercise in finding smooth enough spots without gusts to attempt gybes in. Sailing was challenging but fun, and watching some of the crashes was entertaining too!
Great turnout of windsurfers - at least 20 of us in the water. One of those rare days when we wished for a little less wind, but I'm certainly not complaining!!

I concur it was great to be out. Ideally, if the wind had ramped up to a more civilized 30knots and a bit less gusty  it would have been perfect but as Alton famously said beggars can't be choosers!! :D :D
Full house of windsurfers.
Great after session at White Spot too.Yummy plus a good beer to celebrate all this stoke on the water.
