Board & Sails for Boundary Bay

Windsurfing shop talk

I would like to try Boundary Bay windsurfing this autumn and I am not sure what kind of gear I need. What board type do you use and what sail sizes?
Thank you!

Hey Luis,

Read Dave's (C36) site info here.... http://wtfbc.ca/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=896#p9800 for some more info. 2 boards for me 102L and 80L, any style will work and sail sizes from 5.8 to 3.8 and as discussed earlier weed fins.

I recommend freestyle wave (also called FSW, slalom wave, bump & jump) for local waves (wind swell at Boundary Bay, Acadia and White Rock). Slalom boards are better suited for flat water and will feel too rough in waves. Pure wave boards are too slow. FSW give you early planing and turn nicely in the waves with plenty of speed.

I weighed 190+ lbs when I was windsurfing more frequently (now 167 lbs) and 93L JP FSW worked well in 18 to 25 knots and 74L Starboard Evo for 25-35 knots. My typical sail range was 5.2m to 3.7m.

Hope that helps. Windsurfing in Boundary Bay and Acadia waves rocks! Don't miss it or you'll regret it.

It seems that FSW board is the way to go. I found here a test about this type of board:
http://www.windsurf.co.uk/2014-freestyl ... w-reports/

Now I have to find a reasonable priced used FWS board. Plus a 5-ish m sail. Plus a 400cm RDM mast. Investing in windsurfing never ends :)

Hey Luis,
I have all the above which you may be looking for.

2012 84ltr JP freestyle wave. Pro carbon addition, w/ thruster fin set up. No soft spots, water tight great shape!

Easy 430cm RDM mast w/ bag works with both sails bellow.

Ezzy 5.0m
Sailworks Revo 5.2m
Ezzy 4.2m

Let me know, I'd be glad to show them...
Cheers
Adrian.

My smallest sails are Sailworks Revo 4.2 (no mast for it) & Retro 5.5 (with a 430 Sumo mast). My smallest board is a Roberts slalom 24" (approx. 105L).

For Boundary Bay I think I need to get:
- one sail (or two) from these sizes: 4.8m, 5.0m & 5.2m (I would prefer Sailworks Revo to be able to use the 430cm Sumo mast).
- one 400cm mast which works with my 4.2m Revo sail.
- one FSW board, probably around 90L (for my 75kg / 165Lb weight).

However, I am open to suggestions so please send me PM with what you have for sale.
Thank you!
