Just got home from a nice little road trip in search of sun and wind. Mokka and I headed up to Monck (Nicola Lake) on Tuesday morning, arriving in a quickly clearing thunderstorm and sailing good 6.0/100 litre conditions that sunny afternoon. We scored a prime camp spot in the old part of the campground (best water access and space to leave rigged gear nearby).
Wed brought lighter but still sailable 6.0/110 litre wind in beautiful warm sun, and Thursday brought late (4pm - 6pm) but excellent 5.5 conditions.
Although you rarely get more than a couple hours of good wind per day, the fresh water, spectacular setting, and nice little lake waves are always a treat! 3 days straight in August was very lucky!
From there we decided to take the slow, quiet, and gorgeous route home via Lytton, Lilloett, and the Duffy Lake road. Spent a night in the Thompson River canyon at Skihist Park, did a morning hike before today's heat, then made it to Squamish for a late afternoon session at Nexen (5.5/100 Litre).
None of the sailing was epic, but we're pretty happy with 4 out of 5 days in such beautiful settings.
