This looks good. If the forecast holds I'm up for an afternoon evening session this Friday!

Hey Michael,

Friday is still looking really good for Whidbey for a late afternoon until dark session. The tide should setup best for the easiest launch then too. I would plan on checking the actuals and leaving around noon or shortly after. It'll be dependant on the timing of thermal trough of low pressure shifting inland. There's been an upgrade in the wind strength to W35G45mph on the last marine forecast for the East Entrance :D

I think it's just you and me in this forum, Chris. Everybody else does not get excited by surf and wind anymore. Well, I'll get my gear ready for tomorrow, looking forward to get a few...

they may be busy ...

I'll try Whidbey on a lower tide.

:D :D I think the regulars on Alton's great forum represents about 1% of the people that get out there and play in the wind and waves. There are a dozen or so old school guys out there with decades of local experience each. I guarantee you that they all have the local weather forecasts 110% dialled in and you'll never see any of them on here ;)

I love watching weather and seeing how things unfold. If my different take on the generic models gets someone into unforecasted wind and waves I'm stoked!! Nothing beats local experience and time on the water. Hopelessly optimistic when it comes to wind is the best way to be :D

Make sure to check the actuals and pressure slope before heading to Whidbey. If the thermal trough hasn't started to slide east by 1pm or so I wouldn't chance the drive. We'll check again tomorrow.

Cheers,

Chris

Nice small craft westerlies forecast from mid morning until early afternoon then ramping up to westerly gales by late afternoon / evening. Looks great for JWSP afternoon until dark!!

Thanks Chris, I'm thinking about going to Long Beach as well as it also has a good forecast.
We'll see what happens later tonight. Acadia might also deliver an even session, so lots of options. My first pick would be Long Beach but that's a long way to go.

You got it KD. Race Rocks will be windy for 24+ hours it looks like. Wait until the thermal trough shifts east this afternoon. I'm guessing 40+ knots for Race Rocks and low 30's for JWSP :D
