Pam Rocks is showing strong outflow yet again as the path of the front heads north along the coast and CNL is showing light E. Standby for me. My last decision point is 9:30 am this morning that is starting to look tight.

METAR TAF delayed

TAF Forecasted Jan 21 6:40 am
Thu 7am E 10
Thu 4pm-6pm SE 15g25
Thu 9pm ESE 12
Fri 2am E 10

Alton: Looks like the source of METAR TAF is NOAA, but do you know how this information is compiled (data source(s) or if it is human forecast based on many sources of info)?

Found this statement,

"The Aviation Digital Data Service (ADDS) makes available to the aviation community text, digital and graphical forecasts, analyses, and observations of aviation-related weather variables. ADDS is a joint effort of NCAR Research Applications Program (RAP), Global Systems Division (GSD) of NOAA's Earth System Research Laboratory (ESRL), and the National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) Aviation Weather Center (AWC)."
https://www.aviationweather.gov/adds

But this could be referring to the whole suite of tools called ADDS rather than just METAR TAF.

The "Overview" describes what the product is, but not the data sources,

"A TAF is the international standard code format for terminal forecasts issued for airports. TAFs are valid for a 30 hour time period and are issued 4 times a day at 6 hour intervals. The forecast includes forecasted wind speed, wind direction, visibility, ceiling, type of precipitation (i.e. snow, rain, etc.) and/or weather phenomenon."

I'm feeling optimistic this morning and an afternoon session is not an option so I'm heading to CNL and will bring my Passport to check out PR as well as BB Airport is showing that it's gusting to 20knots from the East so I want to see how this sets up by the Marina as it could be side shore and even with small waves, it could be fun. Will post an OSR when I get there.

At Point Roberts it seems to have switched a bit to ESE now but under 10 knots. Hoping it picks up as there are white caps visable south looking towards Saturna.

moving North.

PR surf at 14ft tide I can't say, but surely will have some from 4pm to 5pm today if it holds.
I would go to PR at 3pm.
crap, I may go as peak is now 3pm, as soon as I see Saturna at 29knots SE.

... cherry point is weak...
http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page.php?station=chyw1

Saturna just read SSW and still weak at 1pm, today's forecast is just rubbish

locust 25-36 was just as forecasted though.

I must say this Southern strait has a woman's temper ;) , forecast is usually way off, only consensual surfing (+ cherry point down for the count).

too much ENE.

OSR 3rd ave. 12-15 knots ESE and raining. Saturna just lit up so I'm going to hang around to see if it makes it here before 4:00.
