Weather Talk For BC no matter what you ride

Places to go late October/mid Nov

Windsurfing shop talk

by MikeyP » Wed Sep 30, 2015 4:53 pm

Hi all,

I might have a spare week in late Oct or mid Nov, and was thinking of taking a week or 10 days off to go windsurfing somewhere... Any suggestions on where to go? I could stay local and wind hunt a bit but also not against going somewhere warmer. Don't really know this side of the windsurfing world that much... Seems a bit early for Carib and a bit late for Hawaii?

Thanks!

Mikey

Brazil is the place to go for November if you had more time. Look at Jericoaracoara. Canadian's need to book a month in advance since a visa is required. It's a long flight.
Maui can be good then, book last minute if the forecast is good. Just a five or six hour flight.
Chile is good then too but also a longer flight. See my earlier posts.
It depends if you want wind and waves, just wind, or just enough wind and big rideable waves.
There is some information about locations at http://boards.co.uk/locations

Probs looking for wind and some entry level waves....Maybe a last minute Maui trip is the way to go. Was thinking about Brazil but seemed quite a way. Is La Ventana any good mid Nov? Heard conflicting things about the state of the wind over the last few years....

I think November is early for La Ventana, I've only been once but I thought the conditions were a bit much like Jericho on a windy day.

You might look at Punta San Carlos instead of LV if what you are after is waves. Then again I'd probably just go to Maui.
