Should have. Could have. Would have.

I was too impatient for Ambleside to ramp up and left for Spanish Banks which was a wicked launch.

Joe saw a bear in the water at Centennial Beach. It was swimming towards Joe. Luckily he water-started before the bear could eat him!

Quick clip from yesterday afternoon. Fun session. Waves never look as big, do they?

1.3m @ halibut bank, plus local wind.
Biggest swell height since March 2014 for a NW wind.

Awesome video, really captures the beauty of the spot. Video/photos don't do waves justice, just like fish :D

Did anyone surf 29th yesterday? It would be interesting to know how the estuary project has affected the waves.

Awesome double session for me yesterday. First session was 1.5 hours at White Rock in 15-18 knots South. Small ankle biter chop. At least 5 other locals out on 11 to 15m kites.

AJ Simon and I then waited for the wind at Spanish Banks. At 2pm it was gray and 10knots easterly. At 2:40 we were about to call it a day, when we say the front of the NW system approaching. It was awesome -- a dark gray line followed by whitecaps everywhere. It was challenging to get off the beach on a 10m, but on the outside it was difficult to hold on to the 10 with full depower. The waves were excellent, although disorganized with the high tide.

Going back over the bridge Ambleside looked awesome with clean breaking waves and at least 5 kites, and several surfers.

What an amazing day. Hoping for more NW's like that this winter.

Nice! :D Video added to the Acadia sailing site info page to round out of the offerings (one windsurf, one kite, one SUP).

Well looks like Acadia took the cake for the weekend.

I had a fantastic session at double bluff Sunday morning. 7M knee to waist high waves in the sunshine. Sailed from one end of Useless bay to the other, good break by the estuary. On my way back across the bay I ran into a group of a dozen harbor porpoises. Two surfed the wave behind mine, very cool.

Memorable session, great weekend. Wife and baby had a blast, there was a kite festival going on at camp Casey. If you have never been to Fort Casey, its worth the trip. Awesome.

We waited until 5:15 for the Westerly to fill in, but as the wind switched it dropped about 10 degrees and started pouring rain. We headed home instead. Great weekend.

KiteboardBC shows 1 lost surfboard, 1 lost twin tip and 1 lost kite from Sunday's gnarly day at Spanish Banks. Glad I chickened out.

Since the Spanish Banks kite launch is so challenging at high tide, I think windsurfing at Acadia is the safer option.
