Hey Dave does this look like it's worth a trip?

I tell you what I see (based on my limited experience out there).

The Good News

• West 5'@ 9 sec is pretty typical
• SW 1'+ @ 14 sec can begin to show (well) at South Chesterman (S shows better)
• West 8'@ 13 sec is hard to imagine
• BWD 1 and pressure model are both calling for NW flow Fri-Mon (good) - might get lucky and there may be afternoon wind too
• Look at the long range for Tues (Sept 15) - West 15'+ @ 14 sec - low percentage, but again hard to imagine

Cautions

• 3m high tide at 1 pm and then strong ebbing tide in the afternoon (will work against the waves)
• Hurricane Ignacio ruminants could stir things up - best to check forecasts again on Wednesday

Definitely worth keeping an eye on!

This morning's (Wed) surf forecast looks sweet - but none of the webcams are showing much.

As for the weekend, the forecast for large, long period swell (West 8' @ 13 sec) seems to have tightened up to 8' @ 8 seconds. The good news is BWD 1 is calling for afternoon NW on three consecutive days (Sat-Mon), so one of them might hit. It will be interesting to see what the BWD 2 forecast shows a little closer to the weekend.

Interesting visual, but I don't have a feel for that model at all. Two things strike me: it doesn't seem to show much of a difference morning to afternoon (but there usually is from what I have seen of NW flow, with both LB and SC being afternoon spots); it does seem to show off-shore flow (which can be the issue there - wind can hang off-shore with higher reading at Lennard Island than at the Tofino Airport).
