I broke a sail today at Jericho. I wish I could say it happened while doing something amazing but I can't. Today I brought my Retro 7.5 for the first time. This is a sail I bought second hand a couple months ago off craigslist; a 2007, reasonable condition for $50. It is a big sail for me and I was really excited to sail it for the first time. After rigging, tweaking, and carying it to the water I lifted the sail on my head and balanced it there while waiting for enough wind to beach start. Then bang! My head was no longer supporting the sail, it was sticking through it. Kind of disappointing to say the least. My 7.5 adventure ended before it began.
So that's the story. Now the questions.
1. Do you think it is worth fixing a broken panel in a 2007 Retro or should I move on with my life. The X ply seems okay but the 2 remaining small monofilm panels are hazey like the panel that broke.
2. Where would I get it repaired locally and what would it cost?
Thanks for listening.
