Hood river newbie tips

Windsurfing shop talk

Hi all,

I finally have some time over the summer! Looking to get to squamish and nitnat but also brave the drive down to Hood River for a week or so. Thinking of staying in town or close to... Couple of quick questions:

- Is it still sailable early sept-mid sept? Will try to head down mid-Aug but for sure should have time early Sept.
- Any tips for places to stay? thinking some kind of B+B if I'm by myself...
- Places to rent gear once I realise that my current gear is too big for the conditions there? Or get some instruction once I realise I can't remember anything at all/get site info and the like?

Thanks a lot in advance, might finally see you on the water!!

Hey Mikey

In the summer many windsurfers stay at Tuckers County Park. In September it may be lonely there so you can try the Hood River Inn. You can rent windsurfing gear at Big Winds. You should call them about September because they sell their rentals at the Labour Day swap meet - but may have some left for the off season.
