might as well comment... because it's a good point.
When I first started windsurfing I was noticing some sailboats getting really close, motorboats racing me, I guess they like the rush of barely squeaking by. Same attitude with some surfers (mexico specially) without realizing people's ankles can get caught by fins; I had more accidents with people around than from my own gear to the point I feel safer alone, I keep track of my own gear, people (swimmers) in the water, floating logs, rocks; when there is nobody around it's meditation time, one with nature (50-50 stats I'd pass out face up though).
Please keep 20 meters from any swimmers at Locarno/Jericho launching area, we'll lose that spot otherwise, in time, + swim the last 10 meters before the beach if possible when crowded (lifeguards take notice), kids are quick.
