Unicorn'ish forecast 72 hours out. Most likely a mid level gale, westerly 30-40 knots, Tuesday afternoon. Should start out windy first light and build throughout the day. Anyone up for an attempt at the local Holy Grail..........without a ferry trip? Planning to leave the interior at 3am and arrive 730am if the stars align.

Gale watch now issued for Tuesday! The forecast and models are all coming together for a big onshore push Tuesday afternoon for JWSP. Definitely keep an eye on this one if big waves and swell are your thing..............well worth the drive :D You'll have to try your strapless board here Alton.

I've been watching Whidbey lately but my work schedule is looking a little busy for the trip. Low tide for Tuesday should make the shore break and current easy peasy - Correct?

You got it Alton. Good launch and minimal current. It's starting to look like a pretty sweet setup. Thinking of driving the 9 hour round trip on Tuesday..........my family thinks I'm nuts :D

Chris ... we all think you're nuts ;)

It's a long shot but I trying to juggle my work schedule for Tuesday. There are 2 other windsurfers who are seriously considering Tuesday.

Hey Alton,

The strong onshore push, W 25-35knots, has now been moved up to the overnight hours, 12am - 6am. They are only calling 15-25 knots all day now. My kite gear is in my apartment in Azerbaijan so I won't be pulling the trigger unless that 25-35 knots gets delayed until daylight. Should have some sweet swell though with the wind blowing all night :D I'll let you know what I'm doing tomorrow night.

W25-35 shifted to all day now!!! Looks like I'll be pulling out at 3am for the drive down to JWSP if all the actuals look good and it doesn't blow through too early.

ARGH! I'd take the JWSP Tuesday over Locust Monday in a second if I could.

Will see what happens Mike. If it shifts to west late tonight like they are calling it would have to crank for 12 hours straight. My experience is that you typically get around 8 hours tops of big winds on a forecast like this. I'm still optimistic but wouldn't call the 25-35 a for sure thing until we see what time it turns west later tonight. Take any session you can for sure :D

Interesting - BWD doesn't show much in the JDF (Gordon's West, Gordons, Cook Street) but when you look at GFS-Spotter you can see why (all concentrated at the east end near Smith Island (good for Whidbey Island). The nice part too is GFS-Spotter seems to be predicting two waves of wind - a morning shift and and a late afternoon/evening shift.
Hmmmmmmmmm

Standby. :D ;)
