JWSP is going off right now! WSW 25-35 knots and it's been blowing for 7 hours straight. This is the wind direction and duration needed for front side DTL conditions. The forecast is only showing wind until about 10am or so. Should be some nice waves for SUP'ing after it tanks.

Tomorrow looks like a great setup for small kites / sails at Ebey and Useless Bay. There's strong SE winds, 20-30 knots, forecasted all the way south into Puget Sound too which is rare. Usually it's just the East Entrance of JDF that sees the big south easterlies. Tides look perfect for kiting at Useless Bay as well.

Have fun Jeff :D

Useless Bay is looking really good on the webcam. SE 25-35mph from way down south in Puget Sound all the way north to Smith Island. Great exposed sandbar with the tides all day today. Better to get on it early. The wind is only forecast to last until noon or so. Monday & Tuesday will be awesome on Whidbey for wind if you decide to extend your family vacation :D

7 kites out on the Useless Bay webcam right now. Looks like 7-9m wind and nice waves. Good sandbar exposed for launching too.

Today would have been fantastic... but I spent Saturday evening after the kids went to bed watching the hockey game pacing IPA's with my much more seasoned brother in law...

With much determination I got up before dawn and drove to Ebey and Crockett Lake. It was all good to go, unfortunately I was not  .

I am an idiot. It blew until 2pm, by the time I was feeling better it was time to pack up and head home. It was good right in front of our house, I probably would have kited there, bit of a wind shadow for first 50 feet, than it looked like 25-30 kts. Gusts that were wrapping around the point measured 18kts.

Beautiful spot, would rent that house again in a heartbeat. They had a big outside covered fireplace, it was fantastic.

Here is a pic from Saturday, wave faces were waist high. Nice SUP waves for sure, especially for less than 2 hours away.

A hangover compromising a session happens to the best of us :D Should you really have been driving your car at dawn though, if you were only ready to kite 8 hours later :?

Seems like a great spot. Thanks for sharing the pics and thoughts on it.

Funny but tragic when family life interferes with your session count  :(
