Maybe when the tide is high it's sailable at Locust as long as you don't mind the hike. I'm definitely going to consider it next time - only 30 min from the border.

Looking forward to Chuck's Locust report.

I have windsurfed there. It was a pretty fun spot. I'd go back for sure!

locust info:

Was cruising along the hwy towards White Rock on my way to Bham when I saw Alton's OSR from 1pm. Had missed the hwy 10 exit so next stop was White Rock. Popped in for a looksie and there were two kites out but they were on the large side. Figured 15-18, probably similar to what was happening at Centennial. Debated retracing my steps but figured I was closer to Locust than Centennial so south I went. It got progressively windier as I headed south and it turned on around Ferndale.
Got to the beach and there were four kites out plus some dude who was just about to launch on a 4.0 and 80l waveboard. Wind was REALLY gusty, especially close to the shore which made for a sketchy launch, wanted to get out right away to prevent kite from falling out of the sky before being hit by a 25knot gust. Tide was high enough that some sweet rollers were coming in and out in the bay there were some decent swellies. Cursing myself for not bringing my waveboard as it would have been an awesome 4.7/4.2 session and was really survival style kiting on my 9m. Windiest I've kited in, that's for sure.
Walk down to the beach is doable with gear, just a pain in the ass, similar to launching off of Wreck Beach, though trail not quite as long or as steep. any tide over 7 ft and you're good to go at Locust!
Ridiculous how much windier it is there just 20 mins from White Rock!
