Friday and Saturday delivered decent foiling winds, even a few planing windsurfers out with big sails Friday.

Hey Slappy,
That was me out there Saturday with the 5m wing - it was definitely touch and go with what felt like sub 10kt conditions at times. Deliberately trying to make do with the 5m instead of pulling out the 8m - I think with the 8 I would have been well powered most of the day but man that thing is just not as pleasant to ride with. For comparison my setup was the Armstrong apf1675, 220 tail, 935 mast. Very similar foil to your 1180 - I think I too would have struggled to get on foil without the downwind board. Anyway fun session after having a similar Friday to you - went out underpowered and with foil set in the wrong spot (new setup) and had a long swim in from outside the freighters on the north shore…

Yeah, I want to make my SF 1180 + Cruzader work in our 8-10 knot summer breezes with my 6m wing but I have a ways to go in pumping technique to get there.

That APF foil looks like it has a really slow stall speed. My 1180 is about 7 knots. The 1180 is about 125 sqcm smaller than that APF though so it might not be able to go as slow.

Nice to see that it can be done though.

2nd light wind test this morning at Erwin. A bit more wind at times than last Saturday but big holes. The APF foil allows for an interesting hybrid wing / board pump technique to drive through to the next gust. Also pretty fun to just try and keep it going with boardpumping.

Gotta put more time into the dock starts! Hoping for bigger wind tmrw, maybe HoweSound…

Yes - hopefully Porteau fills in today. Was close yesterday and now Pam Rocks back in action!
