Haven't needed to leave my car to know it's 3.7. I was going to wait for later morning for SSE but according to windsurf it's here. Windsurf present reading is SSE 30g35. Just me here at the parking lot! 6 deg celcuis. A true winter day. :o

3.7 for you pushes me into “too much wind” territory. I do have a 3.3 but it’s always been HIHO for me at that point. I’m going to swing by centennial but I may end up windfoiling at Jericho, 15 - 18 knots.

Left fresh knee high snow powder in Whistler this AM. Arrived at 3rd ave and all pumped only then realized I didn’t bring my wetsuit.

What a bummer!

That's brutal!! At least Alton benefited (sort of...) by getting to use your kite.

Full on winter sailing today. If that wasn't enough for some folks, Friday (Jan 1st) and maybe the 2nd have potential for more (and a bit warmer). Hoping for some "light wind" (4.5) conditions...

Fingers crossed for another day or two. Hopefully the 1st is in the afternoon, as I have a dim sum date with the family. Maybe it will be a FT afternoon session for me.

Nice to see everyone today, sorry about your wetsuit AJ. That’s a bummer.

Went out on 3.0 and 85L, but in first reach mast get broken right under the boom. Had to swim 30min back and end up 1km downwind of Centenial. Thanks to everyone watching me and to Johnny for helping me bringing gear back.
Had to sail on 4.2 and was way overpowered. Was happy that managed to ride in that strong wind under sun. Decided to go to Jericho for windfoiling session. It was really good flat water 18-22kn. 3 wing foilers, 2 kite foilers and me on windfoil. Sail till dark.

Punishing combination of punchy SSE 30-35 with sharp disorganized waves at 3rd Ave overpowered on 7m+surfboard from 10:30 to 1:30. AJ was kind enough to lend me his 5m kite which was crazy fast and often yarded me off the surfboard on the upstroke. When I finally got used to it the wind backed off and ended down at Centennial ... so called it a day and rushed off for my dinner engagement in Langley.

Hoping for more civilized conditions on Friday and Saturday.

One last Christmas present. Arrived about 9:30 am to find the two Mikes both on 3.7’s and small boards. Dimitri took out 3.0 was powered up then disappeared from sight – turns out he broke a mast but was not too far out and was able to swim his gear in. BWD 1 forecast the 10:30 lull that tricked me into rigging my 4.5/92 but ended up not getting used and went with first option (3.8/74) – second time this has happened and both times treated to over three hours on the small gear (beginning to think I should try this ritual more often). My small gear was within reason today and I only opted out of a few swell train rides due to being grossly overpowered. Wind was punchy though – from undergunned to ‘prepare for launch’ kept you on your toes. Nice ramps and a few clean swell trains with some gnar thrown into the mix including square chop. Good turn out with some notable exceptions. Followed Johnny2 out through the swell and Gleb and I hit back-to-back back loop attempts on the same group of waves! Enjoyed Tsawwassen’s ‘tales from the outside’ during one break. RyanCR500 looked to have timed it right with the mid-afternoon as he only brought the larger board and when paired with the 3.7 seem to coast through the lulls. Then the wind amped up again. Air temp came up two degrees to make glove optional. What a treat – like the one overlooked Christmas present that is discovered a few days later tucked right at the back of the tree!
