Windfoiled two days on southern Okanagan lake over Thursday and Sunday. Thursday was a typical summer north wind day. Managed to get going a bit on a 5.4 and infinity76 foil in probably 10-12knts, but Sunday was a surprise southerly 15-18knts that worked great on 4.7. Nice swell in the middle of the lake riding in boardshorts! Launched from Powell beach Thursday and Manitou park Sunday. Tried Nicola on the way back today, but was glassy from 3-4pm so kept driving after a dip in the lake.

Our family is going to Osoyoos for 4 days next week. Do you know if Lake Osoyoos known for getting any wind?

Yes Jonathan, I am psyched about these spots for windfoiling!!! In early July I went camping and windfoiling at Monck Park (Nicola) and Okanagan Lake Provincial Park between Penticton and Peachland. It was my first time sailing at either and I would definitely go back. I was surprised to find that I had more solid wind days on Okanagan than I did on Nicola. I know they are nothing like what you are used to in Squamish, but I was getting out every day usually on my 7.3, sometimes my 5.3. I even got to give wingfoiling a shot at Nicola. Here's a holiday vid from the trip, it's also got paddling at Shuswap and Ellison Park outside Vernon.

Have fun on your trip. I scored back to back days on Osoyoos lake in opposite wind directions. I also got 4 days in a row at Nicola. Both places have wind shadows and some weeds to watch for when foiling but so much fun in warm water and sun!

Good luck

I go to osoyoos every year and always get a few sessions during the week that I’m there. Wind is hard to forecast and switches very quickly and turns on and off in an instant. On the Canadian side a lot of people launch from the sailing club.

Yeah weeds were a bit of a pain in spots, but fine once away from shore. I could see just about every day working on Okanagan with a 7m somewhere. Pretty consistent wind compared to the gusts of Squamish!
