Stayed 6 days at We-Wei-Kai campground at Rebecca spit over Canada day week.

Beautiful spot, first two days had NW winds blowing, I brought my gear and was pleasantly surprised wind funnels in clean. 30kts first day, high teens the second, foiled right out of my campsite, which had a nice sea grass launch site.

Southerly’s made it into the outside of the spit as side onshore, but I was pretty tuckered and owed some family time after mega multi sessions in the sun the first two days.

If you tack up to the mouth of the bay there is a Venturi and it is 5-10 knots stronger. Also the marina has a large boom on the downwind side, so creates a nice flat water fun zone.

The Cortez ferry sailings are pure joy. The angle both coming and going are perfect to ride the beefy waist high wake each time it passed.

I hooked up to a few sailings with a big Canada flag attached to my back and rode the third wave back for about a KM on Canada day, ferry pax cheering me on. Went as far as I could before my legs were burning and I was staring at open ocean to Nanaimo downwind. Good times.

Turns out quadra is in a bit of a rain shadow, we had no rain the week, even when the lower mainland and even Campbell river got rained out.

SUP, Crabbing & Fishing is good too. Kids loved it, warm water like WR.

Was up on Quadra Island with the family again last Friday thru Tuesday on the NW push. Warm water and Kite-able everyday (10kts+). Even got an evening session on 9m and twin-tip.

Ferry wake surfing and lots of humpbacks, killer whales, sea otters, salmon and huge schools of baitfish (which is like hitting a patch of gravel on the foil).
