I got out after you split, swell/chop got big, gusts were manageable at nexen till around 5pm when it got a little crazy. Need a smaller sail!

Now there's an idea I hadn't thought of for some reason. Probably go to Squamish today but will be keeping Porteau on my radar.

Does anyone know what the Nexen situation is like right now? I had heard earlier that there was some access. Has construction taken over yet?

It's open in the week, closed weekends, but you could drop gear off at the gate and walk in then, you can't park near the gate. No sign of construction yet.

Finally some real wind. 3 hrs of steady SW 20-25 on 9m+surfboard. Smooth water with nicely formed wavelets just upwind of the river mouth. Surprised that Nexen waves were kinda disorganized. Big turn out including windsurfers.

My condolences to those who didn't make it.

West. Ryan posted there was a lot of west in the wind yesterday and there was again today - looks like WSW is new SW. Wind was steady, but stronger in the river early on, then built and filled in wall-to-wall. River and river mouth seemed really shallow on the 1,5 m tide. Nice the 'tree' is out of the river mouth and on the delta now. Beautiful sunny day. Good wind. Good company (Tsawwassen made a rare cameo sailing over from Nexen). AJ got triple session (WS, kite, WS). Lots of juice when I left the water at the peak of the wind (energy running low). Good day despite the crowd short tacking, no-look jumping, no-look turning early on, but the crowd thinned as the wind picked up.

4th consecutive day. Scored 2 hrs in SW 20-25 on 9m+surfboard. Puffs of hot thin air and some rain drops was a little disconcerting so called it a day.

Beautiful afternoon sail at Nicola Lake from Monck campground. Warm sun and water, SW 16-24 (steady once you got out of the campsite bay). Just Mokka and I were out sailing, enjoying the wide open spaces and great scenery.

Campground is packed for the weekend. Forecast is for more wind today but weather is questionable so we have our doubts.

Hope you got some wind today, forecast looks good. How long are you staying?

Real mixed bag of weather at Nicola today which messed up the wind. Got out for about 30 minutes in nice 5.5 conditions at the start but it must have been a squall: some drizzle came in and killed the wind and I had a 15 minute slog back across the lake. Glad to be on a floaty board!
We have to come home tomorrow afternoon which is too bad because the forecast looks like there may be a few days with sailable wind this week. Always great to spend a few days here among the ponderosa pines, regardless.
