A very nice session on Saturday in pretty warm air and sunshine. Landed my first 360 grab shuvit and spend a lot of time working on front rolls. Sadly got my kite lines crossed at the end of the session and then had the bar flip on me when I wasn't looking causing me to do a powered kite loop on land. Managed to run it out mostly, bounced in to the water off the rocks. Knee is a bit banged up, feet are sore and both hands a bit messed up but x-ray showed no fractures. Live and learn.

I was disappointed that nobody on the Spit offered any assistance or even asked me if I was okay though.

Earlier was good for practicing flying on crappy conditions but got a nice break at around 4.15pm wind averaging 18 to 20 knots and had another 40 min session to add on my 6 hour session yesterday.

I'd be disappointed too, it's for all our best interest. I hope you have a speedy recovery.

Last part of the video had me on the edge of my seat. I would have been yelling for assistance.

Unfortunately, the late crowd is too relaxed. I'm sure if you had coming in earlier you would have gotten assistance from a more empathic crowd.

Slappy, unfortunate accident. Condescending behaviour and not helping... not surprised. My best surfing sessions had been at San Francisco (Pacifica Beach); was it the perfect peeling waves? nope, it was because of the people. I could say much more but I'll leave it at that

If the number of people dwindle down, I don't rely on them to launch or land me so I'm always prepared for self-launch (drift-launch) and self-land (drop the kite on the water).

But more people, I'll have better chances of somebody helping out.

It's hard to tell on the video if a kiter saw you, but also not sure if the people there were spectators who may have no idea what just happened -- unless of course they see blood then it would have been obvious someone is hurt.

Scored over an hour at the Spit in steady SW 16-20 on 12m+surfboard before it got nasty

Glad your runout missed the turtled foil board at the waterline. Sorry others onsite were not of more help. Good of you to share so others can learn from it. Hope you have a quick and complete recovery.
