First day without gear issues at the Spit. Steady SW 18-20 on 12m+surfboard from 1-3pm. Great turn out.

Wed was also good but a knot in my bridal was crippling

That sh*t turned to gold come ~5pm at nexen. Smoothest wind I've had in weeks on a 4.7 and infinity 84 foil

Too light for me but westerly + foil looks like a great combo for Nexen

I’m slowly learning the art of guessing when to drive to Squamish. As far as I can tell, there’s been wind there every weekend for the past 4 weeks, even when it looked to me like it would be overcast or even drizzly.

So what’s the guess for today? Howe sound forecast is inflow 15 to 25. Webcam shows clouds and showers. Temp gradient is 20C to 16C from Lilloet to Vangroovy. Could have thundershowers in Squamish. I’d guess no wind, and since I’m usually wrong there’ll probably be wind. The fact that I made 4 jibes in a row two weekends ago and almost planned out of one makes me want to go.

Secondly, for years I’ve wondered this... Why the hell are all those cars parked alongside the highway just south of Britannia beach?

Check the pressure gradient too. If pressure decreases from Vancouver north to Squamish and beyond then you're almost guaranteed wind. Sometimes the gradient won't form till partway through the day though, which will lead to the wind picking up later.

#1 Check Howe Sound EC forecase for inflows over 15 knots https://weather.gc.ca/marine/forecast_e ... teID=06400
#2 Check Lillooet EC forecast for south winds over 30 km/h https://weather.gc.ca/city/pages/bc-28_metric_e.html
#3 Check gradient temp?station=BC/s0000222+BC/s0000173+BC/s0000078+BC/s0000323+BC/s0000141

The most important gradient is Vancouver -> Squamish -> Lillooet, but I include the other 2 in the link I use even though they don't really matter that much. I find the Vancouver -> Squamish gradient drives the earlier wind and the Squamish -> Lillooet one drives the mid afternoon wind.
