The fate of our access to the spit may well be in their hands. I fully respect the SRWS's cause. Constructing another channel under the spit road may well be a win for the salmonid and possibly a win for continued access to the spit if it turned out it does not have to be demolished.

Pretty anti-climatic 2 hr session in SW 18-22 on 9m (repaired) + surfboard. Air was hot and thin (lacking density) in the river so had to hunt around for cooler/denser air out in the river mouth but not too far out.

Crowds arrived just as the wind started to shut down.

Early start before 11am in butter smooth river (SW 18-22) on 9m+TT before yet another panel blew out while boosting (... time to replace my 9m). Switched to 12m+TT for more boosting fun.

As it ramped up to SW 20-30 had lunch then switched to 7m+surfboard to enjoy nicely organized knee high swell at the river mouth. Can back in at 3pm to wrap up an epic day.

Very civilized and uncrowded for a weekend.

Early start at 10:30am in gusty SW 18-30 on 9m (Liquid Force Envy loaner from Francis) and TT then switched to surfboard. Fun boosting and cranking turns in butter smooth water. Called it a day at noon when it felt unmanagable ... nice to quit while you're ahead.
