Got about 40 mins of 4.7 and 101L at Garry Point at 8am but it backed off and switched SW. Waited around until noon but decided to pack up and head to Acadia but just as I was leaving, it switched West again and picked up. Saw white caps out in the Strait all the way to Acadia but it was SW when I arrived and the wind was not pushing in. Waited and it looked to have switched more West and was doable around 4pm if you walked down the path and crossed the small bridge but I ran out of time. Stopped by Lacarno and saw a few familiar faces where 5.0 and a floaty board seemed to be working. Should have gone directly to Ambleside with the SW... next time.

Yes, 5.0 and a floaty board (110 l) worked well for me at Locarno this afternoon. Needed the big board for the holey wind near the shore due to the WSW direction, but the 5.0 was just right to play in the nice swell out by the freighters.
Almost tired myself out trying to hold onto my 6.0 for too long when the wind came up after lunch - the 5.0 was way more fun!

Double session :D :D

#1 - 1 hr at Spanish Bank on 12m+surfboard in marginal W 14-16 ended in a walk of shame.

#2 - 1.5 hrs at Ambleside on 12+surfboard in WSW 20-25. Sometimes overpowered but fun riding waist high rollers. Surprising big turn out (bigger than Spanish Banks). Many thanks to 8mdude for OSR.

Rigged a 5.3 at 4:30 at Locarno, along with a tippy 104L board that’s super hard to uphaul and slog. I felt too uncomfortable with the idea of the wind dying on me and having to paddle in with light fading so I ditched the idea. The whitecaps seemed to come and go a few times while I was on the beach. I got a chance to try my new wetsuit which was the main reason for going out. By next week I should have a new board that I’ll be able to uphaul and slog if needed.

Just an observation that the Jericho sensors are pretty misleading these days. The one at the sailing centre is often down, at which time it reads zero. That was the case all day today.
The iWindsurf sensor that Alton posted above is way off regarding direction- today it showed North all day even though it was WSW. The gust line seems to be fairly close to the actual average on the water, and the supposed average (blue line) is significantly under-reporting.
