Considering going tomorrow, possibly also Thursday so maybe see you there!

What is the best place to park and get down to the water at Furry Creek?

Thanks!

You can park at the hotel and walk all the way on the other side.

Unfortunately I can't go tomorrow. But will try on Thursday.

Might check it out tomorrow morning. Or maybe porteau cove, that walk is long at furry creek. What about launching at the dive site, too much wind shadow?

Sailed Furry Creek this morning, 8-10 am.

I first checked Porteau Cove - didn't look very promising, it was barely windy. Then drove to Furry Creek. Also didn't look too good, but I decided to go still...

Thanks to Tony for his lesson on Maui-style gear carrying techniques. The walk is no trouble at all.

Once I got150-200 meters away from the shore, I found really strong and consistent wind. Felt like 21-23kts. I was fully powered, sometimes overpowered on 5.6 + 105L.

Further towards the other shore the water is perfectly flat and it's still really windy.

Will be coming back tomorrow morning!

Forecast for Thursday is downgraded, but Friday still 15-25 outflow.
I will check wind in the morning, if windy may join you tomorrow.

There is no space for kite launch at Furry Creek.
Porteau Cove has more space. But both places has wind shadow at the beach.
Makes kite launch almost impossible. Another problem if something happen, it's not a bay and you can't just easily walk back.
