Pretty sure he is windfoiling.

The West Van spot is Stearman Beach / Erwin Park.

You could easily launch a kite there at low tide if you had a helper but I don't think there is enough sand near the river to self launch.

At high tide there would only be drift option.

Yet another fine day at Nexen. Steady SW 25 on 9m+surfboard for 2 hrs.

Most of us (10+ kiters) enjoyed the butter smooth water in the river for some fun boosting.

Access may be limited on water due to pile pulling operations.

This is true. But its where the thing is parked etc that may cause issues.
I will post an update as we are in the area.

Hey Dan
I windfoil (windsurf) off Erwin Dr.
There is a little Park there for rigging. 7 could also do it off Steadman beach but there is a larger windshadow on a NW.
Easterlies r best.
U could launch a kite. There is room
Depending on w8nd direction, On a NW u need to slog to windline. Not easy on kiteboard.
U also have to watch out for freighters. It is a shipping line so sometimes they are moored there and can block wind or become an obstacle.
Other than that, it is close and pristine.
