How thick of a wetsuit is needed for the water/air temp at this time of the year?

thanks

I wear a 5/4 and that keeps me toasty.

Would 4/3 be a bit crazy? I'm not crazy btw, I just happen to own a 4/3. I have little interest in freezing my buttocks off.

The water temp was up to 11 degrees in that stretch of sunshine but it's back down to 9.5 now.

It all depends on your 4/3, if it's really water tight you'll be able to last a while.

It also depends on your extras, you'll want a hood or at least a beanie, 5 mm boots and gloves.

If you have a windbreaker to wear over your suit you'll last a lot longer too. I highly recommend the NP Surf Edge wind top (in 1-2 sizes too big). Promotion ExoSkin is decent and even warmer but a bit heavy once wet. MEC Level 6 short sleeve paddling jacket works too (avoid the long sleeve version the sleeves hold too much water) and is very warm but no where near as comfy as the other two.

I use a 4/3 with 5mm booties year round. I used to only go out in 9 above lowest, but with the addition of a hood and gloves I will go as low as 6 or 7.

That being said, my 4/3 is a very high end suit that fits me perfectly snug, and is double seam sealed. It only flushes with water when I bail really hard. So the rest of the time it holds a nice water layer that keeps you warm. On the cooler days, a light shell jacket makes a big difference stopping the wind cutting through your suit.

I personally really like having the flexibility of a good fitting 4/3 for doing tricks being able to move and twist around. Wearing a 5/4 or thicker makes me feel like the Michelin Man out on the water, which to me isn't any fun, as I just end up mowing the lawn most of the time.

This is all keeping in mind that I am a bit of a weird one and dont mind getting fairly cold.

The windguru forecast for tomorrow updated. Is Centennial/3rd still the place to go for E wind?

Centennial beach point Roberts in the morning. I'm using this forecast.
