Hey folks. Looking for info on Tsawwassen, the Ferry Terminal, and Roberts Bank.

What wind conditions do you usually need to sail there?
What seasons are usually best?
Is it muddy?
Weed fin required?
Is the water clean or polluted from the Port and Terminal?

Ferry Terminal Causeway: Do you launch from the southeast side, the northwest side, or both? Under what conditions for each?

Roberts Bank Causeway: Do people launch from there? If so again, do you launch from the southeast side, the northwest side, or both? If both, under what conditions for each?

Any other info is appreciated. A guide to this spot under the Sailing Site Info would be most welcome from those in the know.

Seeing as I live in Richmond Tsawwassen could be quite convenient if I know what to look for.

Thanks for the tips.

Kiting or Windsurfing? Assuming windsurf since you spoke of weed fins.
Ferry Terminal (FT) is good on SW through NW directions, best on NW (such as today) but also tide dependent for windsurfing. Windsurf launch is on the N side of the causeway at the end (close to the ferries) by what is referred to as the ‘taxi stand’, the last pull-out before the causeway divides at the entrance to the FT. Can run out of water on a low tide tho.
Kiting you will see everyone as you drive out, done on the S side of the causeway. Turn left at the last set of lights before the causeway to get to the access road. Offshore wind so make sure your edging/upwind sailing is up to snuff. Super flat water (Buttah) for blasting but can get weedy in the later summer months and hog-tie you in the fall.
Don’t know of anyone sailing off the Roberts Bank Causeway, I’ve always just gone to the FT.

Locally in Ditchmond there’s also Fight Club Beach, but we don’t talk about that one :D

Hope his helps, it’s windy at the terminal (and Jericho) right now, so go get some!
