I decided to take a risk and drive the 2 hours up to Vancouver to sail at Acadia beach. I stayed on 5.7/106 from 130-400 and except for a lull around 230 was fully lit. Really good jumps heading out on starboard and fun ramps heading back. The swell wraps around so it's a totally different experience than the onshore wave I'm used to. Definitely got bigger jumps than I have previously including a couple unintentional half forward loops that resulted in some big slams.

Homecoming. Wasn't expecting much. Arrived to workable wind (5.3/115) at noon and kept building and finally came in for smaller sail (4.5) and fin (23 cm). Funny part was kiter warning me about the 30 knots and calling the wind "ridiculous" as I was grabbing my 4.5 (seems all he brought was 9 m). Nice to lighten up the rig in the hands and loosen up the board for a few playful rides. Hands were protesting the six degree air temp (wondering where the 77 degree water had gone). Low tide moved riding to Upper Acadia and almost sailed up as high as Tower Beach. Rounded the outer pylon once. Had the place to myself for a while, then a few kites, and then Grantmac arrived. Steady west wind at first then got a hint of south in it. More wind than wave. Jumping favoured to port.

Funny to see Halibut bank reaching 1m on NW winds, strait winds are at 30 knots at 2 am, while Jericho and airport have no wind. Glassy surf sessions are rare :)

Old school: standing on the edge of the low bluff at Acadia with my Canon PowerShot then cropped down to 'envalope' format.
