I was chatting with James yesterday at the beach about the forecast and we were talking about what UW WRF-GFS (aka G-Spot, bigwavedave forecast 1) was calling for vs. what WindGuru GFS-27 was calling for.
So for those interested here is the difference between GFS and GFS.
The GFS-27 you see on many sites (WindGuru etc) is Global Forecast System run the US National Weather Service. It provides a simulation for the entire planet on 13 km and 27 km grids.
UW WRF-GFS is the Northwest Regional Modelling Consortium's WRF simulation that is seeded by the GFS-27 data and then runs it's own model on top of that. The simulations are run at the University of Washington and offer a 4 km grid.
Personally I still trust the YVR TAF forecast above all the others.
