Wind This Week

I was worried I had waited too long and had missed it but scored some nice rides anyways.
3.7 was perfect by the time I went out and with the wind switching South I managed to score some sweet frontside rides. Had to go way outside where the waves were pumping with some nice long smooth sections. Made it back to shore just as the wind was dying and thankfully Alton and Tony didn't call the Coast Guard. :D It was a long walk back though from around the 2nd parking lot past the Cafe. I only got in a few reaches but it's amazing how satisfying a few nice rides can be. Thought it was finished when the sun came out but was pleasantly surprised by round 2 in the sun. Went up to 4.7 on the 80L and found some nice ramps and a few nice sets still on the outside.

Great video Michael. Looks like you almost landed that backie. Nice!

I was hoping someone would get some video as I wasn't able to make it.

Thanks Darrel! They are getting close, shouldn't have let go, I might have pulled it off. :D I was expecting you to be there, sorry you missed it. The new go pro hero 5 looks nice, great slow mo and low light. Filmed at 1440p 80fps.

 That's a lot of wood GB. Someone has some work to do ~

Great video M! That one at 0:20 looks tantalizingly close. 8-) 8-) I'm passing along my thoughts below in the hopes there is something that might help.

Nice wave selection! :D

When I saw this I though you were going to land on your back (you must be higher than it looks). :?

It's hard to tell your orientation, but my 'guess' is you might be slightly over-rotated (given you open up in the next image) - which is a lot different than landing on your back.

This looks like true downwind landing to me.

If that's the case, my guess would be more apex, stall, land (to correct for the over-rotation). What do you think?

Is the music your composition?

I really should pick-up a Go Pro - what a great learning aid.

Nice Michael! Nice work on the backloop progression.
That footage looks great btw (far better than my first gen hero) really stable image from that POV too. Definately great to have a camera.
Right on!

Thanks for the tips Dave, like you said, it's a work in progress. I think we need to take a few lessons from this guy though. :D

No it's from the Babel soundtrack.

Thanks, the cameras have gotten much better for sure! The six is supposed to be even better. The 5 works much better in low light than my 2, and the higher frame rates make a big difference. Missed you out there bro, hope to see you on the water again soon!

I'm very happy with my Hero 5 Session so far, and they are on sale for a reasonable price.

Damn, Michael! You're putting the pressure on now with who's landing a backie first! That attempt looked super close. A bit more tuck up would probsbly havr allowed you to wrestle the exit. That clew camera angle works great for analyzing the technique/attempts. I'll have to start using mine like that.

Hope there's some wind in the pipes shortly upon my return. Gonna be hard to hang up the boardshorts and sunscreen, and don the 5/4 and mitts, but it'll have to be done
