Day 1 - First session this year was awesome. Started early after Faceplant (my wind dummy) tested the waters. Followed with 12m then soon overpowered. Switched to 9m then overpowered again. Then 7m. Then back to 9m. 2.5 hours on the water with my entire quiver.

Fun riding with Faceplant, James, Rob, Joe ... under sunny sky. Surprisingly not choppy. Fun knee to waist high waves.

Pretty sure your session was on a high slack tide (it was over 3 m all day). My guess is what you were say'n was that you like shallow flat water.

Yes, while it wasn't actually low tide it felt like a low tide session because riding at Beach Grove on the strong ENE wind. Usually it has to be low tide to get those kind of conditions where the wind is good and the water is low.

It's not the flat water I like, it's the non-choppy, non-confused water. 3rd was a mess on the water while the back of the bay was only calf high but clean and organised.

2c,
@11am
Sandy 17-25 knots
Saturna 28 knots

that's the minimum to get ridable waves... probably waist high sets at PR at 1pm (lowest tide, @10ft).

feels like 0-3 degrees, bundle up.

that's the best for the past week, not much for waves.

All this weekday wind hasn't been an option, but Sunday morning is looking solid for my first kite session of 2018. Fingers crossed!
