Glad I took the morning shift. Civilized SSE 25g30 good for 7m+surfboard except for a few lulls. Best waves were small but super clean early morning with low tide. Later in the morning waves were slightly disorganized but much bigger. Lots of fun cranking turns and nailing hits. Big turn out with some sunny breaks. Fun, fun, fun ...

Glad I slept in! Had a nice sleep in, and some breakfast. Hit the beach around 10 when the first lull hit. I had a feeling it would come back strong. Pumped 7m and out for about an hour. In for hydration, out for another 40 minutes but got blown off the water. Then for 40 minutes with 5meter. Nice waves. I love being out on the ocean during insane conditions! That's what life's about. :P

5 solid hours on the water today. Arrived as everyone was coming in, decided to wait a bit. Finally decided it was enough for my 6.5m + SB so I headed out at 10:15.

Plenty of power and some decent waves down near Centennial Beach. By 12:30 I was very lit on the 6.5m so I came in and swapped to the 4.5m. I've had trouble finding a 5m kite I liked in the past but I was very very happy with the performance of my Solo V2 4.5m.

Afternoon shift was 30-40 smoke on the water. Lots of decent waves to be had but still the best ones were at Centennial and just south of it. I ventured all the way down to where Centennial Beach turns to head in to Beach Grove hoping for some peeling waves off that point but they weren't really worth the slog back upwind. Getting down there had some nice waves along the shore though until my board caught a nest of seaweed and disappeared from under my feet.

Had my board wash up on the beach 3 times today. <3 the softtop.

By 2:00 the wind was more 40 than 30 and there were head high foaming monsters on the outside. Some sweet rides on them, but did get put through the rinse cycle once.

By 3:00 everyone else was gone so I had to go in while there was still someone to land my kite. I put sand on my kite and proceeded to wrap my lines but that was the wrong call as the wind picked up my kite and thankfully it did a flip as it flew 30 feet and landed face down on some wood debris. No visible damage noticed yet, hopefully it's okay.

Landed flat and hard on the Wave Bandit two times today from 15 feet, still no signs of buckling.

Another thing I was worried about with the Wave Bandit was that it might get away from me down wind in over 30 knots but it was totally fine today. No trouble catching it.

BC ferries cancelled many sailings today, but ran the 3PM. Would have been a fun trip!

Big crowd. Big day, eventually (you could tell because Jay Browner was there). Glad to see JoeBlow, but sorry he didn't take to the water. Jordan and RyanCR500 both sporting beards. Hans ripping it up getting multiple hits on the inside. Stokeometer in mittens. Dan spinning in both directions. Ridges of wind (brought by clouds and stalled by sun). Slow start. Several shifts of solid 4.5/92. Main event was full-on (3.4/74 for me). A little bit of everything.
