So wait, we could be launching from Semiahmoo Park instead? Why on earth do people launch from Finlay St. then?

Also is parking actually $6 all day? Because that's better than the city meters IMO.

Normally I'd launch here.. Parking is cheaper too. But I find most people go to East beach so I tend to go there as more likely someone will help me launch on high tides.

Launching off that field , you would still need to negotiate a fence and the railroad tracks with your kite in the air, with swirly wind from the trees to the west. Sometimes I have launched from the sandbar at the water's edge though if tide permits...

There is a top bar on the pathway from parking lot, no kites up. The small clearing is just to the SE in the photo you posted. It is small but I've seen people do it and scoped it out myself.

Good fishing too.
