Nice wind today in WR. Got out for 45mins or so until my ribs hurt too much. Too soon, but the sunshine lured me out.

ok! my left foot puffy hurt but no pics.

lucky I didn't hit rocks wt my knee , it would have been very bad!!!

I missed a great session , I nearly went out AGAIN but someone deflated my kite. was going to only tape the gash silly me. Good thing,as I didn't realise on adrenaline that my left foot was badly bruise until I reached hospital.

Good thing there was no train, that WR launch is so sketchy at high tide. Glade you made it out relatively unscathed.

Scored a 1 hour session at 72nd this afternoon from 4:45-5:45 on the 12m + skim.

It was solid 14-20 knots on the graph from 1:00 right through to when I hit the beach at 4:00, but by the time I walked to the water the wind was down to about 4 knots. I decided to work on my one step drop since I was already out there and it was quite pleasant out.

By 4:45 the wind was back to a solid 14 knots. I got a solid hour skimming in the shallows but by the end it was down to probably 12 knots.

Only 3 shots fired from hunters while I was out there, a bit unnerving I have to say. Really though the kite is the only thing that would be damaged by bird shot at range as long as you look away from the shots as you have 0.5 sec to react before it would reach you and would only hurt you if it hit you in the eye.

Good thing you're ok and no train coming by.

But landing on a rail track -- isn't that the kind of incidents that would raise eye brows and ban the sports from the spot?

Has anyone ever scoped out the white rock at White Rock for a high tide launch?

It looks workable. We would have to a roll a few logs out of the way but there is grass for rigging and nice looking pea gravel for launching.

Biggest issue is the walk to get there, it's 5 minutes from the Pier and 7 minutes from the Totem Park lot. I think the extra 2 minutes to come from Totem Park would be worth it for the much better parking availability.

The wind is a bit worse up there and the cliff would create a bit of an updraft but at least there is solid footing.

The wind shadow is very bad.

A better high tide launch is down at the semiahmoo FN parking lot (Behind the WAG). Cross the tracks then a bit east there is a small grassy spot with no trees. Much less wave power, cleaner wind and gentler beach. Still close to tracks.

Us locals don't get free parking there (but parking is cheaper than WR)

Reminder, please don't launch, land or fly kites near the trains
