The shelf starts at about 3.1m in the back of the bay, but it's usually best to walk the 10 minutes to the launch spot as the back of the bay is nasty ooze muck.

I added a photo of the shelf to https://www.icloud.com/sharedalbum/#B0l5oqs3qG9JUbD that's taken out at the launch of the shelf at 3.0m, also a photo of the sand you have to work with for rigging when you want to drift or tether.

Keep in mind that the beach debris is ever changing at Iona so you might arrive to find the launch covered in logs.

Thanks Angus. TAF is calling for 4-6pm so maybe no sandbar at that time.

If race rock is already gusting 47knots ... by 8pm expect Whidbey gusting 47knots.

A 50 litre, 2m sail would do ...

expect half the wave size

4 sessions at the spit and I already get excited when there is wind else where during the summer 8-)

ok thanks for the tip about Ambleside, I'll steer clear. My plan now would be the ferry terminal. Any windsurfers out there?

Looks puffy SW downtown, but unfortunately both North Shore webcams are down. Anyone with an OSR of the North Shore beaches?

just started at Columbia, no more SW. It takes 1 hour to come down + 1 hour to fill inlet.

27-30knots NW

BB Sensor is W gusting over 20 and lots of whitecaps visible on the WhiteRock Pier cam.
