Good turnout at Nexen today for such a gusty and choppy day. I was working hard on the 5.7/110 and would have been better off with smaller gear if it weren't for the lulls. Improved a bit after about 3 pm but seemed to get colder too, under the thickening clouds. Not many classic days at Squamish yet this season.

Got home and was shivering for 45 mins Must have been hypothermia. All OK now.

Fantastic day at the Spit. First on the water at 10:30am with 12m+TT. Slightly underpowered until I discovered my kite was on the "wave" setting then switched back to "standard" setting. Smooooooth water in the river and between sandbars. Excellent boosting day. After 3 hrs, I took a lunch break to escape the crowds at 1:30pm. Just about to return until I heard reports of gusty/choppy conditions so I packed it up. Just as I left at 3pm the wind become steady again.

Huge turnout in the afternoon with lots of marathoners making up for lost time this terrible season.

Well timed Alton. My timing was certainly off; my session was right in the middle of the gusty/choppy crap. An hour of windsurfing in those conditions was all I could stomach. I noticed that the people who went out later had much steadier wind - damn!

It was pure luck. I've been working on Bayesian statistics for 3 consecutive days and desperately needed to leave the house to stop my head from spinning. Arrived early in Squamish and was treated with an early start.

From my Forensic Epidemiology textbook, Bayes' Theorem (Syn: Bayes' Law): A method of revising or "conditioning" the probability of the occurrence of an event given the occurrence or nonoccurrence of an associated event or events.

So as a result of Alton working too hard on Bayesian Statistics, he travelled to the Spit earlier and thus increased the probability of a good session in light of the early steady wind.
