Hey Alton, better than expected! First hour was the best, nice waves and was overpowered on the 5.2/102L so I came in and got my 80L. That was lots of fun then things backed off a bit and the waves got a little smaller. Dave and Ryan arrived and I sailed for about another hour but had to go back in and get to 102 again, sailed until about 4:30.
Lots of kites out today and it looked like everyone was having fun.

I arrived at 3rd at 3:00 just as most of the day shift were coming off the water. I was expecting to need my 16m but was pleasantly surprised to be able to ride all afternoon well powered on my 12m. Just me and Jared for the last hour or so and it was still blowing when we left. Flat water on the inside and really nice well spaced waist high waves on the outside, best session of the year so far.

Sunscreen. Surprise late afternoon session. Called down to see if M was thinking about going out and he was at the boat launch rigging - time to get busy. Looked descent on arrival with Cash, M, DaveB and few others out enjoying the wind, the flats on the inside and the wind swell on the outside. Rigged big gear (5.3/115) and it was 'just enough' most of the time, but not enough to drive up and play with DaveB. Saw him working a few waves that were overhead high in a crouched surfers stance and he was all smiles when he passed by later in the diminishing wind. 8-) Nice to see RyanCR500 join in the playtime too. Sun was almost burning through the cloud at times and it was so warm I flushed the suit a few times to cool down. Also saw a few no-look-boosts and no-look-turns by others that made CNL feel a touch like Squamish at times. Still nice to get out, but its sure starting to feel like summer is just around the corner.

First impressions of the 2016 Elite 5.3 are more tuning range, lighter in the hands and breathes more.

Took a quick look-see at Gabriel's Beach around 6 pm, but it was pretty small by then (last three pictures).

C36, best waves probably from 1:30-2:30pm. Saturna had 1 reading, just 25 knots, and Sandy shores barely over 18 knots = marginal knee high surf.

Someone had to drive, so George "volunteered" to take a look (at 3:20pm, down to 20 knots by then) ... I could quote George what he saw, but it's rated 'R'.

We are changing the formula now ... 27 knots Saturna + 20 knots Sandy, minimum to get rideable surf :? .
