Glad to hear you had a rocking session, El Presidente, but from what I experienced today we must've been sailing at two entirely different spots
Expectations were pretty high driving down, as traffic lights and trees were swaying nicely even in North/East Van. Got to Acadia around 8am, rigged 4.2m/82l. Launching at Middles looked like a bad idea, and the launch at Uppers was only medium-sketchy.
It was like there was an on off switch for the wind. My first run I was just bobbing out, then occasionally it would turn on and 4.2 was just enough to just right. There were a few nice waves rolling through for sure, but the inconsistent wind made it hard to make much of them... I thought my newly pioneered "dry skin" glove technology would keep today pain-free, but by the time I got back to my car I was in agony...
Dave and Darrell switched out to bigger gear, but it seemed to gain them only marginal more performance, as when it was "off" it was almost not waterstartable regardless of what you were on.
If September 20th 2015 was a wave/jump/wind 10/10/10 at Acadia, today was a 5/1/4. We'll treat it as a training day. Good to absorb copious amounts of vitamin D through the gap in my hood after 90 days of rain. New fins are awesome, at least.
Michael, you definitely didn't miss an "epic" Acadia day. You missed an epic tease! Definitely not enough reward for the pain endured in the hands today..
